A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child is a 1989 horror slasher film directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie is a sequel to the 1988 movie A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. It was written by Wes Craven and John Skipp. It stars Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, Lisa Wilcox as Alice Johnson, and Kelly Jo Minter as Yvonne. The movie is mainly about Alice Johnson once again being taunted by Freddy Krueger, who is also after her unborn child.

The movie was a moderate box office success. It was made on a budget of $8,000,000 and earned over $22,000,000. The film was rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It was banned in Iceland.

A sequel, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, was released in 1991.


Alice, having survived in the previous film, finds the deadly dreams of Freddy Krueger once again. This time, the taunting murderer is striking through the sleeping mind of Alice's unborn child. His intention is to be "born again" into the real world. The only one who can stop Freddy is his dead mother, but can Alice free her spirit in time to save her own son?
