Ghostbusters II is a 1989 American supernatural comedy film produced and directed by Ivan Reitman. It is a sequel to the 1984 film Ghostbusters and follows the further adventures of a group of parapsychologists and their organization which combats paranormal activities. The film was a box office success despite the mixed reviews. The movie was rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for violence.
A third film in the franchise was in development for many years but was never made. Another movie named Ghostbusters, intended to reboot the franchise, was eventually released in 2016.
After saving New York City from Gozer five years before, the Ghostbusters were sued by numerous city and state agencies for the property damage at 55 Central Park West. But the discovery of a massive river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of spectral activity allows the staff of Ghostbusters to revive their business.
