Shade Man

DWN-055 Shade Man (シェードマン Shēdoman) was an emergency Robot Master utilized by Dr. Wily to help break him out of prison and continue his vie for world domination. He is notably weak to three other Robot Masters' attacks: Spring Man's wild coil, Slash Man's slash claw, and Cut Man's rolling cutter.

Shade Man was originally built by an unnamed roboticist (possibly Dr. Light given that he is known to have created a number of robots for the civilian market, as shown in Mega Man 9) to serve as an attraction for the haunted house in an unspecified amusement park. Like many of his later minions, Dr. Wily simply stole Shade Man, reprogrammed and modified him for combat. To this affect he installed sound wave equipment known as the Noise Crush; although it was initially intended to mentally control humans, Wily performed a faulty wiring job and caused it to instead generate devastating sound waves that could bounce back and forth off of walls.

Aesthetically based on a vampire, he is programmed to prefer dark places and is able to puncture another Robot Master's plating to drain them of "life"-giving oil. Comically he fears both ghosts and spiders, and dreams of becoming a singer despite his awful voice.

He is the master of the VAN Pookin tank, and his army consists of the zombie-like Astro Zombiegs, the bat-like Batton M48, the crow-like Cyorown, the werewolf Gilliam Knights, Raggers, Sniper Joe 01s, and True Shield Attackers.
