Somebody's Watching Me

Album cover

"Somebody's Watching Me" is a synth-funk song that was recorded by Rockwell and released in 1984 by Motown as the lead single from his debut studio album of the same name. The song plays on the feeling of paranoia and the feeling that someone might be watching you. Michael Jackson also provides backup vocals.

Music video[]

The music video produced for the song features Rockwell coming home and having strange visions (in a manner recalling the film The Dead Zone) while taking a shower. The visions show many different things, including: Rockwell being pursued around his home by assorted ghoulish apparitions, a cadaverous-looking man looming around, and a tombstone with his name engraved on it. Soon, Rockwell is interrupted by a noise from outside. He goes to investigate and, at first, sees the man from his vision. But after getting the sun out of his eyes, he realizes that it's just a mailman. However, as he goes down to greet him and take the paper in his hand, its revealed that the mailman is actually a zombie, who attacks Rockwell, though he manages to realize it.
